Electrology Tips

Recommendations for all Professional Electrologists

  1. Learn about ambidextrous insertions. PLEASE try this!! Easier than you think. Keeps the back, shoulders and neck from repetitive discomfort. Balances muscular activity, eliminates back-handed insertions.
  2. Use NO PRESSURE on the needle holder or tweezers. Keep as relaxed grip as possible. Constant pressure will bring on wrist, hand and finger problems in years to come. I have suffered from improper positioning and muscle strain. I don't want you to go through the same thing.
  3. Stretch between clients. Neck rolls, straight arm extensions palms-up stretch fingers down. Hold for 20-30 seconds, each arm. Between clients, look at something distant through a window, relaxes the eye muscles, relieves eye strain.
  4. Use magnification that allows you to sit straight up, NOT leaning over your clients. Loupes eliminate the back and neck strain, and allow you to treat at 16-20 inches from your client. Keeps your hands at waist level instead of holding your arms out in front of you.
  5. I guarantee these suggestions will help you through many years.

How to ensure your clients to stay on schedule

Educating your clients and taking the time to provide a proper consultation will pay off in the long run. Offering some "free" consultation time will show that you, the technician, really care about the outcome. They are spending their hard earned money on these treatments, if they stay on schedule, the results will show. Its a domino effect, if your clients are educated and realize the only way they will get results is if they keep their appointments, they will be happy. A happy client will only have great things to say about their experience. This will undoubtedly help your business grow!

Importance of Pre and Post Procedures

Preparing and inspecting your client's skin prior to treatment is your first step. You must use a product that will not dehydrate your client's skin, as we know healthy, hydrated skin is a key component to getting good results. Also try not to increase circulation before starting, no need to provide a lengthy cleansing massage, we do not want to warm up the skin before we start. Following the treatment use a calming and healing product. Ionizing a calming product is also advisable if your client is experiencing redness or sensitivity. Remember to ensure your client is not contra indicated to direct current and that the product is ionizable. If you are not sure, ask your distributor or manufacturer to confirm. It is also recommended that your settings during the ionization stays between 0.5 and 1.0 micro amperes, especially on facial areas.

Electrolysis Reimagined

Electrolysis machinery

For many years those of us associated with electrolysis understood that epilators operated at a frequency of 13.5 megahertz. About twelve years ago Dectro International introduced its Platinum line of epilators that operate at 27 MHz. Our horizons were expanded. Their claim is that hair is permanently removed 25% faster and with a degree of comfort previously unheard of. So what are we to make of an epilator that operates at 6.68 MHz?
